What is online check-in?

On-line check-in is one of the most efficient way of checking in. 
A domestic departure passenger can get the boarding pass printed out at Online Check-in and go through the security check directly, provided he or she has no luggage to check, which can save time for the passenger.
  An international departure passenger who has obtained the printed boarding voucher at the Online Check-in can get the boarding pass at the check-in counter with the voucher 60 min prior to departure (not including passengers departing for Hong Kong).

Which kind of passengers of CSN can check in online?

Adult passengers who have bought CSN e-tickets for confirmed flight without undergoing change procedures (except for passengers who need special services or who need verification of other boarding certificates). Domestic flights from some original departure cities, Guangzhou and international flights from some original departure cities have opened the online check-in (for some connecting flights, flights from Macao, flights from Guangzhou to Japan, America, Korea, Australia online check-in is not available).

Which kind of tickets are suitable for online check-in?

It must be a valid adult e-ticket of CSN (except for passengers who need special services or who need verification of other boarding certificates); the traditional paper ticket is not accepted for online check-in.

Which languages does CSN offer when performing online check-in?

Chinese, English, Korean

Which flight segments of CSN can I check in online?

Can I check in online with tickets bought from agents or intermediaries?

Passengers can check in online with all e-tickets of CSN regardless of the way they were purchased. 

Can I check in online with connecting flights?

In relation to factors concerning continuous segments, connecting time etc, some connecting flights do not support online check-in.

Can you hold my seat for a longer time if I have checked in online?

No, you must arrive at the boarding gate 15 minutes before departure; otherwise, it will be regarded as voluntary waiver of the seat and your ticket will be dealt with as a voluntary change or refund.

How to check in online using CSN website?

Log in to the home page of CSN http://www.csair.com, and then click “Handling boarding pass” from the drop-down options of “Reservation inquiry” to enter the login page of the online check-in system, passengers can choose the channels by themselves.

Can I check in online if I have luggage?

Yes. CSN reminds you that after online check-in, you still have to check in luggage. So please arrive at the airport earlier to ensure you have enough time for checking in luggage. Please consult the local airport of the original departure for the deadline of airport counter.

Can I check in online individually if I am in a group?

Yes.

Can I check in online for round-trip tickets?

Yes, you can check in online with both of the round-trip tickets in accordance with the time of the online check-in.

Are there specific safety requirements or standards for passengers to check in online?

Both the online check-in passengers and traditional check-in passengers need to go through the security check and get the security staffs’ seal on boarding pass without specific safety requirements or standards.

What should I be aware of during online check-in?

You must have a valid adult e-ticket of CSN and provide the identity information in accordance with the one used when booking. Passengers with paper tickets cannot check in online.

Why can’t I check in on the CSN website or through SMS?

The possible reasons for failure of online check-in are listed below:
1、 Network is busy;

2、Your flight does not support online/SMS check-in or is not at the time of check-in;

3、Change of airplane types intermits the check-in.

Can group passengers check in online?

Yes.

Why can’t I see the interactive seating plan when checking in online?

Please check your web link or internet speed first. Or maybe it is because of the low version of your browser that cannot display the page, and you need to upgrade your browser.

Are there any time restrictions on online check-in?

Online check-in will start from 14:00 of the day before departure to one hour before the departure (some cities can start earlier). So if you need to check in online, be sure to check in during this time frame.

Can I choose my own seat through online check-in?

Yes, after you successfully log-in and going to “seat self-selection”, you can use the dynamic seat icons of the CSN cabin map to choose the seat you like (empty seat icon can be chosen and sitting seat means it has been chosen)

What is network boarding pass?

For specific airlines of our company, we will offer you online check-in service. After online check-in, we will send you a certified document related to your identity and seat and you should print it. With the printed document, you can board your airplane directly after security check. This document is your boarding pass.

Is there any requirement for printing paper of boarding pass of online check-in?

When you check in online, you only need to use A4 paper to print the boarding pass.

Does it matter if a part of the boarding pass is not correctly printed or cannot be printed?

It matters. After online check-in, you must print the boarding pass on one sheet of paper so as to provide convenience to your boarding. If your boarding pass is lost partially or printed on more than one page, we suggest that you readjust your printer and print the boarding pass on one sheet of paper.

Can I change my seat after online check-in?

After successfully checking in online, if it is necessary to change your seat, you can log in the online system again and cancel the former seat, then reselect one seat and print the boarding pass (when passenger clicks “Cancel seat”, the boarding pass becomes invalid; passengers can apply for boarding pass of the same airline for only three times).

Why can’t I change the seat?

Sometimes, it is because of the unstable system or your network. You can retry later. We do apologize to you for the inconvenience. You could also go to the airport to change the seat.

Can I check in online if I do not have a printer and cannot print the boarding pass?

Yes, you can receive the boarding pass at the airport counter of CSN or duty counter at the airport with a valid certificate after online check-in.

What should I do if I have lost my boarding pass after online check-in?

You can receive the boarding pass at the airport counter of CSN or duty counter at the airport with valid certificate.

Can I check in online if I have registered luggage?

Yes, you can check in online, however, you need to check in luggage at the airport counter when arriving at airport.

If you still have to check in luggage after online check-in, please arrive at the airport earlier to ensure enough time for checking in your luggage. For the deadlines of the airport counter, please consult the local airport.

Standard of carry-on luggage: each person can bring one piece of hand baggage (two hand baggage for passengers of first class) not exceeding 20×40×55 cm in size and 5 Kg in weight.

Why is the boarding gate displayed on the boarding pass as “Undistributed”?

It is because the online check-in is a little earlier and the boarding gate is undistributed. So please pay attention to the display screen or consult the staff at the airport.

Can I check in online if my flight is a mixture of domestic and international flights?

Sorry, you cannot.

Can I check in online with an accompanying child?

The child cannot check in online. Only passengers with a valid adult e-ticket of CSN can check in online. So we suggest you check in at the airport counter together with your child.

When should I arrive at the airport after successful online check-in with printed boarding pass?

You must board the plane 15 minutes before departure, so you need to reserve the time for registered luggage and security check to avoid missing the flight.

Can I upgrade my cabin when checking in online?

Online check-in does not support upgrades. If you need to upgrade, you can contact the sales office or the departure airport.

Can I check in online with a code-sharing flight?

Code-sharing flights do not support online check-in at the moment.

Can I check in online for my companion?

Yes.

Why can’t I find the menu for online check-in?

The menu of online check-in is in a drop-down option of “Reservation inquiry” on CSN website http://www.csair.com; so you need to log in first. If you are not a member, you could register first.

Why can’t I inquire about my record after log in the member’s area?

If you are already a member and have made a valid booking, you could log in the CSN website and inquire about related information. The possible reasons that you cannot inquire may include: you have not done valid booking; your network is in poor condition with many delays, and complete information cannot be displayed, you may change the network environment or computer; our server is busy right now, you may try later on.

Why can’t I check in online after 14:00 of the day before departure?

The possible reasons are listed below:

1.     Network is busy

2.     Your flight does not support online/SMS check-in or is not at the time of check-in;

3.     Change of airplane types voids the check-in.

You can go to the airport counter to check in manually or check in later on.

Why can’t I check in online or by SMS of mobile phone?

You can not check in online if any of the following circumstances occur:

1.     Children and infants under 12-year-old;

2.     The online check-in is not enabled in your departure city;

3.     Your flight is not at the time of check-in;

4.     Temporary flight change;

5.     Other flights do not belong to CSN;

6.     Non e-ticket;

7.     Network or other reasons

You can go to the airport counter to check in manually or check in later on.

Why can’t I log in?

Please check you network link if you cannot log in. If the network link is normal, please verify the log in information, because you may input the wrong member ID or password. Sometimes system maintenance may lead to temporary login failure. You can retry it later on or go to the airport counter to check in.

Why can’t I inquire into my record when I have booked a seat and want to check in online?

You need to log in with your member ID used for air ticket booking to inquire reservation information. You should also check if it is because of your network.

Why am I asked to provide flight information?

Because we need to inquire your air ticket reservation condition in our system with the information you provided.

Why am I asked to input my passport information?

The departure and entry and customs office need to confirm that related inspections have been done before passengers’ arrival at the airport with this information. Incorrect information may result in a delay in clearing customs.

How can I change my seat?

You can log in and modify it after cancellation, and you can make modifications three times at the most.

How can I cancel my check-in?

In the same way you handled check-in, you can log in the page and choose the flight for which you have checked in, and then cancel the check-in.

Can I check in again with the same flight after cancellation of online check-in?

Yes.

Why can’t I cancel the online check-in?

If you cancel the check-in after one hour before departure or have checked in your luggage, you will not be able to cancel the online check-in. In case you need to cancel it, please go to the airport and contact the service staff.

How can I change my reservation after cancellation of check-in?

You can contact your travel agent, ticket agent or any of the ticket offices of CSN. Or you can call the service hotline on CSN website: 4006695539 (inland); 8620-22395539 (international) (service provided 7×24 hours), or call the sales service hotline of CSN: 95539 (inland); 8620-86682000 (international).

Does the cancellation of check-in mean that I have cancelled the air ticket booking?

No. The cancellation of online check-in only means waivers of former seat you have chosen and it does not mean you have canceled the air ticket booking. If you want to cancel the air ticket booking, you can do so via booking cancellation service.

How should I receive my boarding pass after online check-in?

You can print your boarding pass by yourself after online check-in.

Is “Online check-in” service suitable for all the flights of CSN?

At present, only the cities in which you have launched the service allow passengers to check in online rather than all flights. You can inquire on the website for details.

Why can’t I find the flight I want to check in to online?

It may be because your flight does not support online check-in services at the moment. You can go to the airport counter to check in.

Can I check infants in online?

Sorry, the online check-in is not available for children or infants.

Can I cancel booked air tickets after finishing “Online check-in”?

You need to cancel the check-in first, and then you can cancel the booked air ticket.

What information is included on the printed boarding pass after online check-in?

The information includes: your name, flight, member card number, certificate number, seat, flight number, flight date etc.

Why is the seat given to other passengers after my reservation?

Maybe it is because you did not save the information after selection.

How should I set my printer to print my boarding card?

For convenience of printing the boarding pass, the resolution of your printer, including the laser printer, should be above 300dpi. If you are not sure about your printer set, we suggest that you should refer to the instructions for your printer. And you’d better print it in black and white with A4 paper in advanced mode.

What should I do if the boarding pass printed by myself is incomplete?

You can readjust your printer and reprint. Or you can go to the airport counter to reprint the boarding pass.

What equipment do I need for printing boarding pass?

There must be related software in your computer, such as software for reading PDF documents.

1. Computer with linked network

2. Printer with 300dpi resolution or above

3. A4A4 or standard sized paper

4. Browser with the function of pop-up window

Will CSN reserve the seat for me after preselection of seat online?

Generally speaking, we will reserve the seat for you. In case of exceptional cases of flight cancellation, merging , reallocation of flight types or seats etc, there may be some changes to your booked seat and we will have a new arrangement for the seats.
