Nanchang


Nanchang is the capital of Jiangxi Province, China. It is located in north central Jiangxi Province, south of the Yangtze River, downstream of Ganjiang Fu River, close to Nine Ridge Mountain in the west, near Poyang Lake in the northeast, it is a city adjacent to the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Southern Fujian Delta. It is the only capital city on the Beijing-Kowloon line and known-as China's "future city and green capital".

Nanchang has humid subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. The spring is rainy with sunshine below the normal and average temperature of 16.8 ℃; the rainy season is mainly from April to June, the total rainfall accounts for over 80% of annual rainfall, and most heavy rain and flooding occur during the rainy season. In January, the temperature is usually 3 ~ 9 ℃, in July, the temperature is usually 27 ~ 37 ℃, it is not cold in winter, and is relatively hot in summer. The annual rainfall is between 1,300 to 1,900 mm, and the rainfall is concentrated from April to July (rainy season).

1. Tengwang Pavilion

Tengwang Pavilion is located in northwest Nanchang and the east coast of the Gan River. It was firstly built in the fourth year of Tang Yong Hui Emperor by Li Yuanying, the then governor of Hong Zhou and son of Tang Gao Zu Li Yuan. According to records, Li Yuanyin constructed the pavilion as another residence when being transferred to be the governor of Hong Zhou and was transferred as prefectural governor of Suzhou in the third year of Yong Hui Emperor. The title of Li Yuanying is "Tengwang," hence the name Tengwang Pavilion [1]. 20 years later, Yan Gong, the then governor of Hong Zhou, rebuilt the pavilion. Upon completion, Yan Gong gathered refined scholars to keep a record of the event, when Wang Bo wrote his representative walk "Preface to Tengwang Pavilion", which spreads the fame of Tengwang Pavilion everywhere. Han Yu in "Record of Repaired Tengwang Pavilion" praised: "I have heard of many famous buildings in the region south to the Yangtze River, and Tengwang Pavilion is the most famous for its gorgeousness and uniqueness. Shang Rong, a poet of Qing Dynasty said in his poetry "memories of Tengwang Pavilion": "the good landscape can be viewed from towers, and landscape and towers should be recorded".

2. Tianxiang Park

Tianxiang Park is only 4 km from the downtown Bayi Square. It is national 4A level scenic spot, a natural home in which the natives of Nanchang takes pride. Here, culture and nature live in harmony, the residential art of regions south of the Yangtze River can be found with interesting birds, gardening, Zen Buddhism, calligraphy, wetlands, lakes, swamps collusion and a total of 132 species of over 180,000 wild migratory birds. Experts of the UNESCO and the European Union unanimously believed that the number and population density of birds and their closeness to people are peerless in the world. In 2004, Tianxiang Park was identified as the "World Center for Protection of Migratory Birds" and put into the "Guinness Book of World Records." Here is the homeland of bonsai, where you can find 6,000 tree stump bonsai mostly aged 100-900 years, being in the garden makes people feel back to the nature.

Railway

Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway, Xiangtang-Putian Railway meet in Xiangtang Town in south Nanchang. Nanchang is the only capital city on the Beijing-Kowloon Railway.

Urban Mass Transportation

Nanchang Metro Line 1 commenced the construction on July 29, 2009. Nanchang-Jiujiang City Railway (Changjiu Intercity) is China's second high-speed inter-city railway, and was opened to traffic on September 20, 2010.
