Bicycles

1. Bicycles can only be carried as checked luggage in the cargo transport sections. The weight and quantity of bicycles can be counted as part of a passenger’s luggage allowance.

2. China Southern Airlines only accepts non-electric bicycles. Air must be deflated from the tires before they are checked in.

(1) The handlebars of non-folding bicycles must be rotated 90 degrees and firmly secured. The pedals and wheels must also be removed and secured firmly to the body of the bicycle.

(2) Folding bicycles must be folded up and secured.

The total linear dimensions of a bicycle must not exceed 158cm. Bicycles transported as checked luggage are covered under the same carrier liability regulations as general luggage.


Surfing and windsurfing Equipment (e.g. Surfboards)

If surfboards (windsurfing) and equipment are to be transported as baggage, agreement should be obtained from the company's ground services security department or agent.

Charges on domestic flights:

1.Charges for surfboards with perimeters of no more than 227 cm (109 inches) should be calculated based on the fees for 5 kg of excess baggage.Charges for surfboards with perimeters exceeding 227 cm (109 inches) should be calculated based on the fees for 8 kg of excess baggage.

2.The above charge standard applies to each passenger with only one surfboard (or windsurfing); if one passenger carries more than one surfboard (or windsurfing), the overweight charge shall be subject to the general charge standards for excess baggage.

Charges on international flights:

1.Such items should not be included in the traveler's free baggage allowance.

2.Charges for surfboards with perimeters of no more than 300 cm (118 inches) should be calculated on the basis of excess baggage fees (charging standard for general overweight baggage).

3.When transporting surfboards (windsurfing) and equipment, the carrier undertakes liability for transportation in accordance with the applicable regulations for general luggage.


Golf Equipment (e.g. a set of golf clubs)

Golf equipment: a golf bag (including golf balls and golf clubs) and a pair of golf shoes.

A set of golf clubs should include a maximum of 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls and one pair of golf shoes.

Charges on domestic flights:

1.Charges are made based on the fees for 6 kg of excess baggage.Charges may only be made if the above items are not included in the free baggage allowance for the cabin class paid for by the traveler.

2.If the golf equipment is included in the free baggage allowance, the overweight baggage charge shall be subject to the above-mentioned special charge standards or the general charge standards for excess baggage, whichever is less.

3.If the golf equipment is not included in the free baggage allowance and the overweight baggage exceeds 15 kg, the overweight baggage charge shall be subject to the general charge standards for excess baggage, i.e. the initial 15 kg overweight is charged by special charge standards for 6 kg overweight; every kilogram in excess of the initial 15 kg shall be charged by the general charge standards for excess baggage.

Charges on international flights:

1.Each adult traveler may transport one set of golf equipment free of charge.The total weight of the equipment must not exceed 23 kg. The linear dimensions must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches).

Any weight exceeding the free baggage allowance should be charged in the same way as general excess baggage.


Fishing Equipment

Fishing equipment:A tackle box, a creel (beam creel), a pair of fishing shoes, two fishing rods and a dip net.

Charges on domestic flights:

1.Charges are made based on the fees for 4 kg of excess baggage.Charges may only be made if the above items are not included in the free baggage allowance for the cabin class paid for by the traveler.

2.If the fishing equipment is included in the free baggage allowance, the overweight charge shall be subject to the above-mentioned special charge standards or the general charge standards for excess baggage, whichever is less.

3.The charges for fishing equipment over 15 kg shall be subject to the general charge standards for excess baggage.

Charges on international flights:

1.Each of the above-mentioned items of fishing equipment should be included in the free baggage allowance as an item of baggage with a size of 158 cm (62 inches).

2.Any excess weight should be charged in the same way as general excess baggage.


Ski Gear

1. Ski gear includes a pair of skis, two ski poles and/or a pair of ski boots;

2. Charges on domestic flights:

(1) The special charges for each set of ski gear equal those for three kilograms of excess luggage;

(2) If the ski gear is not included in the free luggage allowance, the above standard shall apply. If the ski gear is included in the free luggage allowance and is overweight, it will be charged according to the above special rates or the rates for general excess luggage (the lower rates shall apply);

(3) For each passenger, only one set of ski gear will be charged according to this standard. Each kilogram of excess ski gear will be charged according to the rates for general excess luggage.

3. Charges on international flights:

(1) Each passenger can have one set of ski gear transported as checked luggage for free;

(2) The total weight of ski gear shall not exceed 23 kilograms and the total linear dimensions shall be no greater than 203 centimeters (80 inches);

(3) The oversize ski gear will be charged according to the rates for general excess luggage.


Other Special Baggage

Passenger may purchase and book a seat to transport over-sized cabin baggage, i.e. Cabin Baggage (CBBG); most of them are musical instruments, statues, precise instruments, electrical appliances, valuable and/or fragile objects.

Note: Large numbers of valuables (such as gold, cash) may only be accepted as CBBG. When checking in, passengers should present carrying certificates issued by relevant management departments.

1. Size requirements for CBBG:

(1) Where the baggage carried by passengers to the cabin exceeds 55cm×40cm×20cm in size and meets the CBBG transport standards, the passengers shall purchase CBBG tickets, but the size of CBBG shall not exceed 145cm×50cm×30cm (the maximum applicable size in ERJ Economy Class is 55cm×40cm×20cm), and the weight should not exceed 75kg.

(2) Where the baggage carried by passengers to the cabin does not exceed 55cm×40cm×20cm in size, if CBBG tickets are still needed, please follow the applicable CBBG transport rules.

2.Packing requirements for CBBG

CBBG must be packed properly by passenger himself/ herself; the package material must not be made of glass. And if it is instrument, it should be installed with handle outside for fixation.

3. Arrangement rules for CBBG:

(1) In Economy Class, CBBG shall be arranged in a seat near window and next to the passenger’s seat. Generally, it is arranged in the last three rows, but if there are no vacant seats in the last three rows, it may be moved forward, but not preceding the second row behind the emergency exit.

(2) In Business Class and First Class, CBBG will be arranged in a middle or window seat next to the passenger’s seat in rear rows.

(3) In special circumstances, for example, the travel of a large orchestra, the seats are arranged as the case may be.

(4) CBBG shall not impede or obstruct the use of any exit and cabin passage; it shall not prevent other passengers from seeing "fasten seat belt", "no smoking" and "exit" lights.

4. Booking of CBBG tickets

To book a CBBG ticket, the passenger should call 95539 or visit the ticket offices directly under China Southern Airlines 72 hours before the flight departure to make request and reservation with the customer service staff. Only after the confirmation by China Southern Airlines may CBBG be transported.

For passengers who carry large musical instruments and other baggage, and need to purchase CBBG tickets, but fail to make reservation 72 hours in advance, if the flight has a specified location for CBBG, the passengers may purchase CBBG tickets on spot; if there is no specified location, the passengers have to reschedule to other China Southern flights or give up such requests.

For passengers who carry precious metals, statues and other baggage with the sum of the three sides no more than 100*60*40cm, need to purchase CBBG tickets, but fail to make reservation 72 hours in advance, if the flight has consecutive adjacent seats available for sale, the passengers may purchase CBBG tickets on spot; if there is no adjacent seats, the passengers have to reschedule to other China Southern flights or give up such requests.

5. Billing rules forCBBG

(1) CBBG shall be at the same physical class (i.e. service class) as the passenger's. CBBG shall be charged according to the applicable fare for the number of seats actually occupied by the CBBG. The applicable tax is charged based on the actual number of passengers on board.

(2) Advanced seat selection is inapplicable to CBBG. The seat is designated by the system or by the manual counter.

(3) There is no free baggage allowance for CBBG.

(4) Baggage value statement is inapplicable to CBBG. The passenger shall bear the responsibility for protecting and storing CBBG.

(5) CBBG cannot be jointly transported with other airlines.

(6) Mileage is not accrued for CBBG.

(7) Extra Seat is inapplicable to CBBG.
