1.How to claim items that I lost on the China Southern Airlines flight?

China Southern Airlines started to provide lost items inquiry service in July 2009. If any items are missing during the flight operated by China Southern Airlines, passengers can call China Southern Airlines’ service centre or baggage inquiry department to confirm the information of lost items and the specified address for collecting.

This service is only available in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for now.

(II) Collection of lost items

The owner should take his/her own ID card or other valid identifications to collect the lost items. If any other person is entrusted, the person should provide a letter of authorisation of the owner, and his/her and the owner’s ID cards or other valid identifications.

 (III) Notice

1. The lost items will be stored by the baggage inquiry department for 30 days.

2. According to relevant regulations of Civil Aviation Authority, after 30 days, clothes will be destroyed, weapons will be handed to public security department and antiques will be given to relevant state organ. The valuables can be auctioned off after 90 days; fresh and perishable items can be managed 24 hours later; general foods, if rotten, will be disposed immediately; living items like wet towels, tooth brushes, drinking water and eaten foods can be managed 48 hours later; inflammable and odorous articles like lighters, gas and durian will not be stored due to the limited capability of China Southern Airlines.

3. Since factors like customs are involved, the baggage inquiry department cannot deal with the lost items of passengers of international departure.
