According to relevant rules and corporate regulations, please follow the professional instructions of the crew staff during boarding and the following information is for your reference.

Carry-on Baggage Regulations

China Southern Airlines pays attention to each passenger's feelings. We will offer suitable assistance to the sick and disabled, the elderly, unaccompanied minors or teenagers, pregnant women and passengers with infants and children. Your carry-on baggage and other items can be stored in the enclosed baggage carrier, locker room, and under the seats with brakes. For flight safety, please don't place any baggage in front of the emergency exit or in the aisle so as to avoid any accidents. Please follow the baggage weight limitation and ensure you a safe and confortable trip. If your baggage exceeds the size and weight limits, the crew will send your baggage to the cargo compartment for transport.

Rules on Using Electronic Devices


Starting from January 18, 2018, you may use electronic devices including phones, tablets, laptops, and e-readers on board flights operated by China Southern Airlines on the condition that you comply with the usage specifications for onboard Portable Electronic Devices (PED). Detailed specifications are as follows:

I.Definitions

1)Portable Electronic Devices or PED refer to electronic devices that are portable, are powered by electricity, and can be carried around by hand. These include laptops, tablets, e-readers, phones, video players, and portable gaming devices.

2)Transmitting Portable Electronic Devices, or T-PED, are PEDs capable of transmitting radio signals. These include, but are not limited to, PEDs that use open cellular communication technology or radio frequency communication networks, as well as other wireless communication PEDs.

3)Non-transmitting Portable Electronic Devices, or N-PED, refer to PEDs that not capable of transmitting radio signals, or that are capable but have been disabled.

II.When in the air (from when the airplane enters the runway to when it exits the runway at its destination), it is not permitted to enable cellular network functions (voice and data).

III.PED permitted usage times and types/sizes

1)PEDs that are permitted to be used for the entire duration of the flight include but are not limited to:

1. Portable recording devices;

2. Hearing aids;

3. Pacemakers;

4. Electric razors;

5. Electronic life support devices that will not affect the plane's navigation or communications system

6. Small PEDs where the sum of their length, width, and height are no greater than 31cm (e.g. e-readers, mobile phones, etc.)

2)PEDs that are not permitted to be used while in the air include but are not limited to:

1. Mobile phones or smartwatches with mobile phone capabilities that do not support airplane mode (in other words, those that only support cellular network functions (voice and data));

2. Walkie-talkies;

3. Remote control equipment (remote control toys or other remote controlled electronic devices).

3)Large PEDs (such as laptops or tablets) where the sum of their length, width, and height are greater than 31cm are not permitted to be used during taxiing as well as during the first 20 minutes after takeoff and 30 minutes before landing.



IV.Permitted modes of usage:

Wi-Fi or Bluetooth can be used on mobile phones (smartphones) with airplane mode as long as airplane mode is enabled (cellular network must be disabled).

V.Storage, custody, and emergency handling requirements:

1)Large PEDs (those where the sum of their length, width, and height are greater than 31cm, such as laptops or tablets) should be securely stowed away so as not to cause danger during bumps, impacts, or emergency evacuations.

2)Small PEDs (those where the sum of their length, width, and height are no greater than 31cm, such as e-readers or mobile phones) should be kept in a secure position (e.g. in your hands).

3)PED accessories (e.g. earbuds, charging cables, etc.) should be securely stowed away during key stages of the flight such as taxiing, takeoff, descent, and landing, and should not hinder emergency evacuations.

4)Passengers should avoid leaving their seats during a situation in which injuries may occur to them or to nearby passengers (e.g. leaving your seat without properly securing your PED, or leaving your seat while charging your PED with no one looking after it), as well as avoid retrieving items from the overhead compartment in similar dangerous situations.

5)PEDs stored in your carry-on baggage or in the overhead compartment should be powered off.

6)Before flying in low visibility conditions or when there is electronic interference on board that may be due to PEDs carried by passengers, the flight crew will instruct passengers not to use PEDs, and passengers shall comply with the flight crew's instructions and power off all PEDs and securely stow them away. Passengers who do not comply with these instructions shall be handled in line with the relevant regulations of China Southern Airlines.


Rules on Alcoholic Beverages

China Southern Airlines doesn't provide minor passengers with alcoholic beverages. For the purpose of the order and safety of the cabin, the steward has the right of refusal to provide alcohols to any passengers of being drunken.

Other Tips

According to law, all flights of China Southern Airlines are non-smoking flights. There is no smoking area in our planes. Please do not smoke on board. You are specially reminded that smoking in the washroom may pose a threat to flight safety. We have set smoke detectors in the washrooms, so please pay special attention to the above regulation.

Disruptive, Rude and Dangerous Behaviors

China Southern Airlines will hand over unlawful interference occurred in the cabin to the police and judicial authority according to state laws and civil aviation regulations. The air police in the plane is affiliated to state law enforcement agencies, having the right to deal with passengers' aberrant behaviors and immoral behaviors in the cabin. All passengers are prohibited to do the following things: smoke in the cabin, assault the crew and harm other people, misreport perils, endanger flight safety, use electronic devices without permission, open emergency equipment against the rules, pick quarrels and provoke troubles, get drunk and rowdy, sexually harass others, occupy the aircraft or do other things against the rules. China Southern Airlines has the right to take all necessary actions against the above mentioned behaviors to ensure the safety, health and comfortableness of passengers and crews.
