Notice on the Ban of Self-balancing Vehicles Powered by Lithium Batteries in Carry-on and Checked Baggage- China Southern Airlines Australia

Dear Passengers ,

Following current economic and social developments, the use of electric self-balancing vehicles has been expanding, and new types of such devices seem to become available every day. These devices require a relatively large amount of power from lithium batteries, and most lithium battery labels on such devices do not conform to standards. The international community has reported plenty of instances where fires and explosions have occurred due to inferior lithium batteries used in these devices.

For safety during flights, all such self-balancing vehicles that are powered by lithium batteries are hereby banned from carry-on and checked baggage. Electric self-balancing vehicles refer to personal transporters that are powered by lithium batteries and have one or more wheels. Such devices include but are not limited to: electric unicycles, electric skateboards, hoverboards, and Segways.
