Passengers who have no self-care ability and need to be cared for by others due to mental or physical handicaps (or diseases) are called diseased and disabled passengers.

(I) Medical certificate or diagnosis certificate

(1) Should a passenger be subject to any of the cases below, the company should have the right to ask the passenger to produce the medical certificate issued by a hospital approved by China Southern Airlines bearing the signature of a doctor of such hospital:

(a). The passenger travels with a premature infant incubator;

(b). The passenger will need oxygen therapy with medical oxygen devices;

(c). The passenger will be subject to health threat to travel by plane or require special medical care;

(d). The passenger is known to have been infected by a serious infectious disease, which can be prevented from infecting others after taking certain preventative measures.

(2) Medical certificates or certificates of diagnosis in three copies: medical certificates or certificates of diagnosis should be filled out by medical institutions at county, city or equivalent level with the patients’ conditions and the results of diagnosis and bear the signatures of relevant doctors and the seals of the medical institutions. If you need to use the oxygen cylinder on the plane, please also specify the required oxygen flow.

(3) Preventive measures against the spreading of passengers’ diseases or infections should be stated on medical certificates or certificates of diagnosis. Certificates are effective only when they are written within 96 hours before the flight, or within 48 hours if passengers are seriously ill.

(4) On air lines between China and the US operated by China Southern Airlines, the medical certificates (or certificates of diagnosis) of disabled passengers meeting the requirements of boarding should be valid if and only if they are issued within 10 days from the beginning of the passengers’ trip (no medical certificates are required for the return trip).
