Other Special Luggage

1. Musical Instruments

The weight of such items shall not be included in the free luggage allowance, but shall be separately charged as excess luggage.

For small musical instruments like guitar and violin (no more than 100 cm in length, 40 cm in width and 75 kg in weight) in passengers’ carry-on luggage, the regulations for cabin luggage shall apply.

Tips: The cabin luggage will be charged in either of the following two methods (the higher rates shall apply):

(1) The cabin luggage can be charged as excess luggage according to its total actual weight; or

(2) The cabin luggage can be charged as passenger(s) according to the number of seats occupied, the flight mileage and the passenger’s ticket class.

2. Precision Instruments and Electrical Appliances

(1) Precision instruments and electrical appliances (such as musical instruments, TV sets, acoustic equipment, washing machines, refrigerators, desktops, tape recorders and VCDs) shall be transported as cargoes. Their transportation as luggage is subject to CSAir approval, and they must be transported in factory packaging or CSA approved packaging.

(2) The above items shall not be included in the free luggage allowance but shall be separately charged as excess luggage.

(3) CSAir shall only be held liable for such items in accordance with regulations for checked luggage (The Montreal Convention or the Warsaw Convention as well as relevant provisions and terms of CSAir transport rules).
