Unaccompanied Minors/Teens

Unaccompanied Minors

Ⅰ. Passengers travelling alone between the age of 5 and 12 years old are considered as unaccompanied minors. Those children who are accompanied by an adult less than 18 years old and with civil capacity shall go through UM formalities. They have to apply for air carriage with us and may only travel on flights without a change of aircraft. Unaccompanied Children under 5 years old may not travel alone under any circumstances.

Special services shall be applied when booking ticket and passengers can only board after approval and essential arrangement are made by our staff first under China Southern Airlines’s rules. Ⅱ. Acceptance Conditions

Unaccompanied minor-passengers must meet the following conditions:

1. Parents and guardians shall escort the unaccompanied minor to the airport, arrange a person to pick up and take care of their child at the destination and provide the name, address and contact number of the receiver to our staff.

2. Application for unaccompanied minor service shall be submitted to our ticketing office when making seat reservation. Their seats must be confirmed in accordance with the China Southern Airlines’s relevant provisions relating to carriage.

3. China Southern Airlines only accept unaccompanied minors on flights without a change of aircraft. If the trip includes two or more legs, either operated by the same carrier or different carriers, parents or guardians shall arrange a person to pick up and take care of the child at the transfer point and provide the name, address and contact number of this person.

4. Parents or guardians that have difficulty in arranging the person and request us or local agents to hire personnel to do the job shall submit in advance an application to China Southern Airlines for our approval.

5. Ticketing staff should check the name, address and contact number of the designated person provided by the parents or guardians of the unaccompanied minor before acceptance.

6. The carrier is responsible for unaccompanied minors and need to provide special service and care to them, which will affect other passengers on the same flight to some extent. Thus there is a limit to the number of unaccompanied minors on each flight. The limits for different aircraft types are listed in the following table:

Notes: if there are sick or disabled passengers with number limits on the same flight, the number limits to unaccompanied minors in the table above shall halve (after the reduction, the number shall be rounded down if it is less than 1).

III. Acceptance of application

1. The applications for carriage of unaccompanied children, if made within the territory of China, shall be submitted to the ticket offices directly subordinate to China Southern Airlines, and such applications made outside China shall be submitted to the overseas offices of the Company.

2. The application for carriage of unaccompanied children shall be made in advance. Ticketing or reservation departments, upon receiving the reservation application of unaccompanied children, should request the children's parents or guardians to complete the "Application for Carriage of Unaccompanied Children" in duplicates.

IV. Fare

1. Domestic flights:

(1) For unaccompanied children from 5 years old (inclusive) to 12 years old, the fare shall be charged according to the appropriate children fare.

(2) Parents or guardians of unaccompanied children are supposed to put forward their requirement in advance if they want our company to assign extra staff to accompany their children, and such requirement shall be subject to the consent of our company before being accepted. In this case, an additional service fee of 50% of the normal adult fare will be charged.

(3) If local service personnel are required to take care of the children at stopovers of the flight, service fee will be charged according to the regulations of the service department.

2. International flights:

(1) For unaccompanied children of 5 years old or from 5 years old to 12 years old, the fare shall be charged according to the fare applicable to unaccompanied children, and an individual seat will be arranged for each child.

(2) Generally, unaccompanied children under 5 years old will not be accepted for carriage.

(3) Parents or guardians of unaccompanied children are supposed to put forward their requirement in advance if they want our company to assign extra staff to accompany their children, and such requirement shall be subject to the consent of our company before being accepted. In this case, an additional service fee of 50% of the normal adult fare will be charged.

(4) If local service personnel are required to take care of unaccompanied children at the places for flight connection, service fee will be charged according to the regulations of the service department.

Unaccompanied Teens

Ⅰ. Passengers aged between 12(including 12 years old) to 16 (including 16 years old) years old without parents or passengers aged above 18 accompanying and who travel alone and apply for unaccompanied service are referred to as unaccompanied teens.

Ⅱ. Acceptance Conditions

Ⅲ. Airfare

1. Domestic flights:

The fare shall be subject to the normal adult fare. In case that extra staff is required to accompany the passenger, an additional service fee of 50% of the normal adult fare will be charged.

2. International flights:

Fare

To be charged according to the fare and service fee.

(1) Fare

Fare for adults shall be applied.

(2) Service fee

A service fee of RMB 350 (US$ 40) will be charged.

(3) In case that extra staff is required to accompany the passenger, an additional service fee of 50% of the normal adult fare will be charged.
