Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport is located in the hinterland of Central Plains, the middle part of China's busiest Beijing-Guangzhou air route. It is a bond linking the coastal area with the western regions, thus being an important airport and air traffic hub in China. It is located in southeast of Zhengzhou city, with straight-line distance of 15km away from Zhengzhou city, and straight-line distance of 20km away from Xinzheng downtown. Now, there are 19 airline companies which open 61 airlines to Zhengzhou. In 2006, eight airline companies operate the Zhengzhou airport, that is, China Southern Airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shandong Airlines and Shanghai Airlines; the international passenger airline under regular operation of the Zhengzhou airport is Bangkok Airways. Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport offers irregular chartered airplane services to Russia, Singapore, Japan and other countries, and regular chartered airplane services to Hong Kong and Macau. The airport has 364 flights a week flying to 45 cities. The passenger throughput of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport in 2005 was 2.8 million, making the airport rank 25th place in nationwide airports. In the first half of 2006, it operated 780 inbound and outbound flights per week.
