Guiyang City, capital of Guizhou Province, is the political, economic, culture & education, traffic, and travel service center of Guizhou Province. As a central city of Southwest China, Guiyang City is also an important traffic & communication hub leading to the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta as well as the logistics distribution place in Southwest China. Besides, it was honored "China's Important Holiday Resort for Ecological Travel and Leisure", "City of Forest in China", and "Summer Resort in China".

In October 2004, Guiyang City was granted the first "National Forest City" title by the State Forestry Administration.

For five consecutive years since 2005, Guiyang City ranked the first place in the "China Top 10 Summer and Tourist Resorts", which was jointly sponsored by the GN International Cooperation Committee of China Institute of City Competitiveness and Asia Pacific Environmental Protection Association etc.

In 2010, Guiyang City, together with Beijing and Nanjing etc. was selected into "Ten Most Potential Cities in Future China" by the 2009-2010 Global Urban Competitiveness Report.

Guizhou belongs to wettish subtropical monsoon climate, and in most places of Guizhou Province, the average annual temperature is about 15℃, with frost-free period lasting for 250-300 days. In January, the coldest month, the average temperature is 4-6℃. In July, the hottest month, the average temperature is 22-25℃, and so Guizhou Province is a typical cool region in summer. The rainfall in Guizhou Province is relatively abundant, with annual precipitation hovering around 1,300mm. In particular, the precipitation from June to August ranges between 450mm and 600mm.Special geographic location underlies Guizhou Province's advantaged climate: no severe cold in winter, no severe heat in summer, plentiful precipitation, sufficient heat, and hot rainy season. Due to this, Guizhou Province typifies the stereo-climate. Ecological environment in Guizhou Province is favorable: verdant mountains, eyeful of green trees, and fresh air help Guizhou earn the title "Natural Oxygen Bar". That is not only conducive to the reproduction and growth of different living things, but also beneficial to the human beings' living. In a word, Guizhou is an ideal tourist resort, recreational resort, and summer resort.

1. Qianling Park

As one of the main scenic spots in Guiyang City, the Qianling Park, with a floor space of more than 426 hectares, is located in the northwest of Guiyang downtown, and it is one of China's few urban large-scale parks. Lying against the Qianling Mountain, the park has exuberant forest and picturesque scenes, and the tree-lined Qianling Lakeside is enchanting and graceful. In the park there are lots of wild macaques, and they always pester tourists for food. How funny and interesting it is!

2. Nanjiang Canyon Park

Kaiyang Nanjing Canyon Park, the first canyon park in China, is reputed as the "Second Hometown of Tao Yuanming". Located in the middle of Guizhou Plateau, the park is 54km away from Guiyang City, capital of Guizhou Province. The park is characterized by grand karst canyon with typical formation and diverse waterfall groups with multifarious postures, presenting tourists a graceful landscape and sundry scenes. To sum up, Kaiyang Nanjing Canyon Park is a scenic spot of high aesthetic value and scientific value.

In Guiyang City, traffic tools fall into four kinds, namely, large-sized bus, middle-sized bus, microbus, and taxi. It is cheap to take the taxi, and you can go to any place in the downtown within RMB 10.

Citizens in Guiyang City depend highly on the bus in daily life, and so it is convenient to take the bus in the city. The clearance between bus stops is small, so does the bus's departure interval. By the bus, you can go to any place in Guiyang downtown.

In September, 1992, Guiyang airport was officially put into service, making Guiyang City become the Level-I port city.

In May 1997, the Level 4D modernized airport Guiyang Longdongbao Airport, which is 12km (equivalent to driving distance of 15 minutes) away from the center of Guiyang City, was officially put into service. Equipped with advanced navigation systems and facilities, the airport takes a floor space of more than 6,000 mu, and its runway is 3,200m long and 60m wide. In the airport, the terminal has a built-up area of 34,000 square meters, and comprises cutting-edge international and domestic departure halls, which can handle 5 million person-times per year or 2,000 person-times per hour in peak period. So far, it has put 32 flight courses into operation, with weekly flights totaling the number of 467 and flight courses radiating to China's large and middle cities (like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Haikou, Chengdu, and Kunming etc) and Hong Kong SAR.
