Guangzhou November 25, 2011 – The reporter learned from China Southern Airlines Cargo Division that China Southern Airlines will deliver 4-ton relief supplies to Turkey for free to help local people who affected by the earthquake.
These relief supplies consist of 100 tents which will be delivered by China Southern Airlines from Shenzhen to the destination via Beijing by taking the Beijing-Urumqi-Istanbul flight newly launched on Nov. 22. It is estimated that the relief supplies will arrive in Istanbul, Turkey in the early morning of Nov. 26.
It is said that, these relief supplies were donated by Hong Kong Kwan Koo China Association Co., Ltd. It has been over a month since a 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit Van Province of Turkey, yet the post-earthquake refugee settlement still faces severe difficulties. During the visit to the earthquake-affected areas, the working staff of Hong Kong Kwan Koo China Association Co., Ltd. learned from the Governor Office of Van Province that the village ALMESAT in ARISU area was in urgent need of tents. So they prepared 100 tents. However, they faced the problem of having no transportation vehicles. Just then they learned that China Southern Airlines was going to launch the Beijing-Urumqi-Istanbul route, so they contacted the cargo division of China Southern Airlines. Upon knowing this difficulty, China Southern Airlines appointed experienced staff to take charge of this delivery. They coordinate the cargo services in Shenzhen, Beijing and Urumqi, handle the customs clearance procedure and reserve the cabin space with priority, so as to assure the smooth boarding of the relief supplies. Apart from notifying its office in Istanbul in advance to prepare for unloading the relief supplies, China Southern Airlines tracked the whole delivery to make sure the relief supplies arrive in Turkey smoothly.
