The new regulations give more consideration to the passengers’ needs and cater more to the international practice by segmenting the types of passengers and travel routes in a more detailed way.
To improve the baggage transport service for the international passengers, CSN will implement new baggage transport regulations on its international flights since September 1, 2011, revising the regulations about the piece-based flights and weight-based flights. The new regulations give more consideration to the passengers’ needs and cater more to the international practice by segmenting the types of passengers and travel routes in a more detailed way.
The piece-based flights – revised the maximum weight of single check-in baggage, free baggage quantity and excess baggage cost.
CSN employs the piece-based baggage policy for the passengers on American or European flights. The new regulations have revised the baggage maximum on American flights. For instance, each check-in baggage on the Canadian flights shall not exceed 32 kg and the total of length, width and height of each baggage shall not exceed 158 cm (or 62 inches). Each check-in baggage on other flights (such as American flights) shall not exceed 45 kg. CSN reminds the passengers: if your single luggage exceeds the above designated weight, you have to repack or reduce the weight of the baggage otherwise your luggage will not be checked in. Furthermore, the new regulations have clarified the free baggage transport standard on the American flights: each first-class passenger can check in 3 pieces of baggage free of charge with each piece not exceeding 32 kg; each business-class passenger can check in 2 pieces of baggage free of charge with each piece not exceeding 32 kg; each premium-economy-class or economy-class passenger can check in 2 pieces of baggage free of charge with each piece not exceeding 23 kg. The new regulations have also revised the excess baggage cost on China-Europe flights and released the new rate in RMB currency. Weight-based flights – more free baggage transport for which the special groups of passengers can apply
For flights other than the American and European flights (not including Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and Turkey), CSN adopts the weight-based policy for the check-in baggage. According to the new regulations, each check-in baggage of the passengers taking the above-mentioned CSN international or regional flights shall not exceed 32 kg with the total of length, width and height of each piece not exceeding 158 cm (62 inches). For the sake of more CSN passengers, CSN has increased the free baggage weight on some Asian and African flights. Based on the berth, the free baggage weight has been increased by 5 to 10 kg. See more details on the value marked on the ticket. Besides, CSN has offered more free baggage volume for the student, migrant, seaman and laborer passengers from the perspective of human-oriented considerations. These passengers, because they often check in more baggage than average, can apply for more free baggage volume by showing certain certificate or identity document when purchasing the ticket. See more details shown on the ticket. The new regulations begin to be implemented on September 1 (the date of selling the ticket).
