Celebrating SkyTeam’s first decade!

On 22 June, the CEOs & Chairmen and representatives of the 13 member airlines gathered in New York City to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the alliance.

The leaders of SkyTeam reflected on the accomplishments of the last decade and outlined strategic actions to increase the strength and scope of the alliance. In this regard, on the same day:

• Vietnam Airlines and TAROM were welcomed as SkyTeam’s newest members.

• Air Europa and Kenya Airways were reclassified from Associate Airlines to full members as part of the alliance’s new membership program.

• China Eastern signed a formal agreement to begin the joining process.

SkyTeam welcomes Vietnam Airlines

On 10 June, Vietnam’s national carrier officially joined SkyTeam during a memorable ceremony in Hanoi, becoming the alliance’s first partner in Southeast Asia.

Joining SkyTeam reaffirms Vietnam Airlines’ position as a major carrier in Southeast Asia, while significantly strengthening the alliance’s presence in the region, with the addition of 20 new destinations to our network.

TAROM becomes SkyTeam’s newest European partner

TAROM Romanian Air Transport became SkyTeam’s newest partner during an official event held in Bucharest on 25 June.

This new partner enhances the SkyTeam’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe with flights to 49 destinations in 24 countries, adding 11 new cities to the SkyTeam`s network . The airline’s renewed fleet is comprised entirely of last generation aircraft, including Boeing 737-800s and Airbus A318s.
